Let All Things Flow Over You

I am trying to Stop the struggles in my mind, and in my heart, I realize the more I struggle, the more I suffer. The characters in my story change. The scenery changes but still I struggle with the same issues, over and over. I think it is different but it is actually the same story. I am older, and the problems are larger and more complex. There are larger consequences than when I was a child.

We carry our grievances and disappointments as if they were some kind of treasure, not willing to let go of them even when they are drowning us. Even when the end is near we still struggle to hang on to our pain and sorrows, refusing to let them go.

What if there is life after death? What if there is life after life? Coming back, doing the same thing over and over again? Expanding our karma again and again for lifetimes. Not realizing that if I want my life to be different, I have to live my life differently. I can not do the same thing over and over expecting different results. This is the insanity, We have all been living this way for a long, long time. All of us been perpetuating this, the same storyline for ages. It seems this is the story of the human condition.

Now I can see clearly the stories of our lives, the story of my life, our delusions, our confusion, and our insanity.

I will let go of these struggles and I will Battle no more.

What is Love?

Do you ever wonder, what is love? Do you know?

I thought I knew it, and everyone did as well, but now I realize I was wrong.

I am not sure if any of us really understand it or give much thought to it. What is love?

Everyone wants to be in love, and use the words so freely describing their desire and impulse to fulfill their cravings. They think that is love.

It seems everyone wants to be loved unconditionally, but how many of us give unconditional love? Do you?

So this is my question to everyone, if you care to participate. I would love to hear your thoughts.

What does love mean to you?

What do you think love is?

What does love feel like to you?

Do you know?

What is to truly love someone?

What is to be loved by someone?

What would you be willing to give up for the sake of someone else’s happiness?

Many have written about love throughout the ages.

My favorite description and manual to live by is from the Bible. This is a slight variation of two pieces of wisdom that I have tried to live by:

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others. It is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered.
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects,
always trusts, always hopes,
always perseveres.
Love never fails.

Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient and kind;
Love is not jealous or boastful;
It is not arrogant or rude.
Love does not insist on its own way;
It is not irritable or resentful;
It does not rejoice at wrongs,
but rejoices in the right.
Love hears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love never ends.

Corinthians 13: 4-8

Recently, I came across a piece of writing by Deepak Chopra. He says, “Love doesn’t need reason. It speaks from the irrational wisdom of the heart.”

Frankly, I think this is a bunch of bullshit. From my perspective, love is rational, not irrational. This kind of writing gives people permission to hijack the very essence of what love is or what it’s meant to be.

I think the entire world needs to reflect and have a conversation regarding our understanding of love. I am beginning to wonder: If we understood how to love, perhaps the world might be a better place to live in. And perhaps we may have a chance to save the earth and humanity itself.

I feel like all of us are having collective nervous breakdown, individually and globally, because we are lost, not understanding how to truly love one another and care for each other or care for this planet we call home.

In my opinion, true love is not destructive or selfish. Love lifts you up, nurtures you, gives you courage and strength you didn’t know you had and makes you feel safe.

Can you love like that? Do you love like that?

Can you love and care for your neighbor the way you want to be cared for?

I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
